KEEP THINGS USEFUL
Small habits,
longer lives.
At the table
Let hot ceramic pieces cool naturally before washing. Sudden temperature changes can cause cracking. Avoid abrasive pads on delicate glazes and dry pieces before putting them away.
Around the home
Use a soft cloth for dusting. Wipe spills from wooden surfaces promptly and use coasters beneath hot drinks. Test any cleaning product on an unobtrusive spot first.
Textiles
Read the care label before the first wash. Choose a gentle cycle where appropriate and give fabric room to move. Air drying can reduce wear, but keep coloured pieces out of strong direct sunlight.
Repair before replacing
A loose screw, a worn felt pad or a small snag does not have to mean the end of an object. Check whether a simple repair is suitable, and ask a qualified repairer about structural or electrical problems.
